Default Filagree work

I took a digital image in which the sky is burnt out but retrievable with photshop, except for the tiny bits that are visible through the network of branches and leaves of trees. These bright patches stand out like a sore thumb. Is there an easy method of reducing their tone to match that of the sky now that I've brought that within gamut. (I've tried magic wand as the selecting tool, but picking all of the bright spots is going to take months, almost literally)

Default Question

I am going to ask a stupid question. What does "Filagree" mean? I saw the topic for the thread and it caught my eye because I have never heard this word before. Please help a newbie out.

Hi Jo,

Not technical I'm afraid, it is simply a description of, say, a piece of fine jewellery that has been cut to resemble lace. It was the best word I could think of to describe the fine mesh of leaves, twigs and branches that were giving me trouble because of the multitude of small bright areas that were due to the over exposed sky showing through.

Cheers
