sorry, i don't know what popular forums in uk and us, cause i don't live there

about google and yahoo, they have their own strongness and weakness. google is the fastest search engine, and their mail service (gmail) which capacity is 2 GB is followed by their competitor like yahoomail (which have just improve their free mail to 1 GB) and so on

yahoo is a legend in web, cause they have so many services to make people comfort, like mail (i used it since i'm junior high!), webhosting, groups (i follow about 20 yahoo groups), briefcase, 360 (like friendster), movie, sports, games, and many more..!

so if u search a forum, consider with ur interest, but friendster is still a fenomena until now

What do you mean by "most popular forums"? Can you elaborate it a little bit more? By popular do you mean the amount of people use it? Or the number of visitors visit a forum a day?

For the first question, there are 3 most popular forum software on the world. They are, not in any particular order, phpBB, VBB and IPB. SMF is getting more popular recently.

VBB and IPB have lots more features and tend to be a little bit more resourse intensive and you have to pay have a license.

phpBB is the open source forum software. It runs easily with the clean forum. To get more features, you'll have to install more mods, which will make it more resource hogs.

As for the amount of visitors, I don't think there's any forum on the entire world is more popular than Gaiaonline.com. With over 300 million (300,000,000) posts and over 2 million registered members, they have no competition. Gaiaonline uses phpBB to power their forum, by the way

It's realy a good forum, i view this type of fourm first time, in my mide webhostingtalk.com is most popular and big forum, but it's very big

Yeah, it's quite mind blowing to know that WHT is nothing compares to Gaiaonline lol. According to Big Boards, Gaiaonline use a total of over 80 servers! They use clustering servers solution for a forum. I bet the forum owner is making a killing with the amount of revenue receive.
