Default RSS & RSS Feed - Explaination

What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, which is an XML formatted style for syndicating content. The term 'syndication' is used because content is shared among other websites of similar interest. This helps your website achieve higher ranking in search engines. Simply put, we can say that RSS does content distribution services.

RSS serves a variety of purposes while helping to generate traffic from many different locations on the Web. RSS seems to be succeeding because it's a simple way to solve a common problem that extends far beyond the idea of syndication. Getting fresh content can be easy with the many article submission sites available on the Internet. All you have to do is search for articles related to your site, copy them and add them to your site. But be sure that you credit the author by leaving the resource box, along with a live link, intact. You can grab many articles at one sitting and save them for later updates. Add some content to your site on a regular basis - preferably daily.

What is RSS feed?
The RSS format provides web content or summaries of web content together with links to the full versions of the content, and other meta-tags. This information is delivered as an xml file called an RSS feed, webfeed, RSS stream, or RSS channel. In addition to facilitating syndication, RSS allows a website's frequent readers to track updates on the site using an aggregartor. An aggregator is a type of software that retrieves syndicated web content that is supplied in the form of RSS feed.

Nice summary. We have a similar summary available on the government website I maintain.

What is nice about rss is a user can view your content without having to visit the website. Most modern browsers (ie7, firefox, safri) have built in rss readers. I personal prefer FireFoxs rss integration. They call it live bookmarks. You save rss feeds(xml) just like you would a website bookmark. The difference is the bookmark expands and shows the content of the feed. Making it "alive". It is very useful when viewing multiple news sites.

This might be seen as a bad thing for a website with advertisement but there are some ways to integrate ads into rss feeds. It is very annoying for the user though.

I developed a game using rss in the past but havent really got many users. The concept is website owners can hide a special item in their feeds and if users finds all the hidden items (assuming multiple feeds are offered) they could win a price. It is like a scavenger hunt using rss. I hoped having a game would make it more friendly for the average user. Check out RSSHunt.com - Having fun with RSS! if you are interested in this concept. Any website owner can start their own "game" for free. Let me know your thoughts.

The games that are in your website will or may not attract game lovers. It can attract webmasters, web designers, and everybody in connection with web development. This is the reason you didnt get much users.
So try to provide some games to others as well...
