What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, which is an XML formatted style for syndicating content. The term 'syndication' is used because content is shared among other websites of similar interest. The RSS format provides web content or summaries of web content together with links to the full versions of the content, and other meta-tags. This information is delivered as an xml file called an RSS feed, webfeed, RSS stream, or RSS channel. In addition to facilitating syndication, RSS allows a website's frequent readers to track updates on the site using an aggregartor. An aggregator is a type of software that retrieves syndicated web content that is supplied in the form of RSS feed.
