Default group submissions

I am very new to SEO and still a beginner...
Lately I have been hearing about group submission as a technique for SEOs
How is this so and how do I do it properly?
thanks

Well, I have been able to try it, for a few days now, and I think I would prefer forums as well...

it's quite useful in terms of traffic. Just don't do it too much because it might also hurt your site and considered you as a spammer.

Generally, I have seen plenty of group postings craps! Many are just leaving their links behind they ignore whether it can help to their site or not. For me directory submissions, forum postings, blogging, and social bookmarking still my best and used technique...

I totally agree. I joined like 10 groups and I recieve more than a hundred messages from them daily. Some are craps and some are repetitive messages. What a way to spam huh...
