A usful tick list for new SEO's but i think you'll find this point is incorrect:

Submitting too many pages: There is absolutely no need to submit every page on your site to an engine. In fact they don't like it and your site ranking may suffer for this.

If this were true you could submit every page of your competitors' sites and hurt their rankings.

But as Google's webmaster info says:

There is almost nothing a competitor can do to harm your ranking or have your site removed from our index. Your rank and your inclusion are dependent on factors under your control as a webmaster, including content choices and site design.

Actually I write this article a few years back and things have been chagned since than.
