It's a good idea you've got here, if you can find a template with good graphics to surround it. Look for corporate templates with a red-white-blue color scheme and use tables to place the "updated blogs" and Google ads against the right margin. Center your content and use a dropdown menu to organize all your navigation links. You've got a good site and some great code, you just need a theme.
